Shahnaj Begum

Shahnaj Begum is a University researcher specialising in ageing, care, migration, and human rights. Her research draws on intersectionality and capability theory to examine how social, institutional, and demographic changes shape age-friendly and work-friendly environments.
She has previously worked as a university researcher at the University of Lapland, contributing to interdisciplinary research on ageing and care among both native and immigrant populations in the European Arctic. She has held leadership roles in several international research projects, including serving as Principal Investigator of AGE-Immigrant (2022–2025), funded by the Research Council of Finland. Within WP3, she contributes an intersectional perspective to the analysis of everyday work experiences in the care and IT sectors.
