Shahnaj Begum Presented at the UN’s International Day of Care and Support Celebration
On Friday, 28 November 2025, Shahnaj Begum participated as an online presenter at the Global Observatory of Long-Term Care’s celebration of the United Nations International Day of Care and Support.
The event, titled “Changing the Narrative on Long-Term Care: A Celebration of the UN’s International Day of Care and Support,” brought together international participants from multiple countries to discuss diversity, inclusion, and the future of long-term care systems worldwide.
During the programme, Shahnaj delivered a presentation entitled “Muslim Caregivers in Finland: Cultural and Religious Challenges in Elderly Care.” Her presentation highlighted key cultural and religious challenges faced by Muslim caregivers in Finland and contributed to global discussions on how long-term care systems can better recognize and respond to diverse community needs.
Her participation strengthened the international visibility of WP3 activities and contributed valuable insights to ongoing conversations about inclusive and culturally sensitive elderly care.
